New Year Resolution for your Skin

How often have we heard this line “The New Year is a great time for a New You!” As cliché as it seems, it does make sense. The new year is a great time to review our habits, tweak some of them, toss out the irrelevant ones and make new ones. What are you planning to do with your skin this year? Read on for our top skincare resolutions you can follow.


1.  Basic skincare

The basics all of us know: Cleansing, Toning and Moisturise. Do it every day! Even if you don’t wear a lot of makeup and stay indoors all day, there is still chance that a large amount of oil and dirt remains on your skin. Therefore, you should start every day and end every day with a simple routine of cleansing, toning, and moisturising. After your clean your skin, use a gentle toner to restore the pH balance of your skin and clean your closed pores. Finally, apply moisturizer on your skin to nourish your skin.



2. Eat your Greens

After all the festive feasting and drinking — it is a great time to reconsider your diet and start new eating habits. To help detox your body and your skin, load up on greens; be it in salads or juices and smoothies. Because a lot of food we consume, such as processed foods and meats are acidic. Greens help to alkalise our body and cleanse our skin. Moreover, greens help hydrate the skin while encouraging lymphatic drainage, so you’re de-puffed and glowing.



3. Drink up

If you are in an air-conditioned environment or out in the sun all day, either way, your skin will get dehydrated. Water is one of the best source of hydration for our skin. It sounds easy, but we often overlook this—drinking plenty of water is key to flushing out toxins and refreshing skin. Stick to one main water bottle during the day so you can keep a tally of how many times you refill it.



4. Use an eye cream

If you are not using an eye cream yet, start using one now. If you think you need an eye cream only after you turn 40, you are wrong! With the lack of sleep and loads of work and entertainment during your 20s and 30s, the skin around our eyes will start to show because they are the most delicate part of our face. After 10 years, your face will thank you for giving little extra care to the skin around your eyes.



5. Get your daily Vitamin C

Vitamin C is not only good for health but also good for the skin. This is why a lot of beauty or skincare products include this ingredient. Look for a good quality skincare product that has vitamin C, to help you keep skin soft, supple, firm and protect from aging radicals to brighten your skin tone. Besides supplement, you can load up on vitamin C from fresh fruits and vegetables.




 As you can see, having good skin start from having good skincare habits. What better time than now to start! As you can tell, these skincare resolutions are not that hard to keep. Let’s start and by year end, your skin will thank you for it.
